Remembering...
It is with great sadness that we
recall the passing of our
founder Katharine Sangree on
February 19, 2008. As the
mother of an autistic son,
Katharine was a pioneer in
obtaining the services and
supports that were critical for
her son. Katharine was
ahead of her time 37 years ago
when she realized it wasn't that
her son could not communicate,
he just didn't communicate like
others and it was up to her to
find a way to reach him, to
learn how to communicate to him.
This same pioneering spirit is
what formed the foundation of
Amego and it is what makes our
agency unique to this very day.
For those of you who were not
fortunate enough to have met
Katharine, we would like you to
know what a wonderful, bright
and graceful woman she was and
how she truly cared about all
the staff, families and
individuals at Amego. She
remained an active board member
until her illness prevented her
attending the meetings.
Her legacy is a reminder to all
of us that one person can make a
difference and bring about
change that is powerful and
everlasting. We are better
people just from knowing her and
having her in our lives.
A
memorial service will be held at
the Old Ship Church, Hingham,
MA on April 5th at
2PM.
