Amego School for Children
A specialized curriculum, delivered with love and support for each child.
For families, finding the right educational setting for their child can be quite difficult. Many have found refuge in the Amego School — a fully accredited school, designed just for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our 12 month school program is designed to nurture a love of learning, using the standards established by the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework.
Academic Skills — Our curriculum is functional in nature, covering areas in pre-reading/reading skills, writing skills, math skills, money skills, social skills development, communication and language development.
Vocational Skills — We work with students to develop skills that will allow them the freedom and sense of achievement that comes from working and contributing within our community.
Daily Living Skills — Daily Living Skills include self-care and domestic activities. These skills are addressed within the residential programs and in the school program (as appropriate).
Adaptive Physical Education — Individuals and small group sessions run twice a week, and include physical education activities as well as routine fitness training.
Speech Therapy — Our speech therapist creates programs to facilitate communication for the students, provides consultation to staff and provides one-to-one services with students.
Health Services — Amego employs a full-time registered nurse who is present at the school during regular business hours. Amego’s nurse is also on-call on a 24-hour basis.
Occupational Therapy — Services are available in base physical and occupational therapy for students who have that need. In many cases, the consultant completes the initial evaluation, makes appropriate recommendations, and trains the staff on programs to carry out.
