Supported Employment
Individually
Developed Employment Plans
Amego
is proud of its long, successful history of providing a variety of training and
work experiences to the individuals we support and assist. Individual vocational
plans are developed through the ISP process. Based on the interests, aptitudes,
and desires of each person, the vocational opportunities available range from
providing learning activities to gain prerequisite skills to actual
community-based employment.
Volunteer
Involvement in the Community
Amego
provides on-site employment for those individuals who require stronger supports
than are practical in a community setting. The Courier crews assist with
shopping for various Amego programs, mail delivery from the main office to other
Amego sites, and volunteer delivery of Meals on Wheels (Norwood, Taunton,
Dighton).
Janitorial,
Carpet Cleaning, and Landscaping Services
Several
crews (Cleaning, Lawn, Carpet cleaning, Janitorial) provide various cleaning and
landscaping services to other Amego residences and sites. Recently, the Cutting
Edge (our lawn crews) have begun to contract outside landscaping jobs in the
Mansfield area (spring through autumn) as well as snow shoveling for a local
church.
Full and
Part-Time Community Based Employment
Amego
works to acquire local job sites that will lead some individuals to working
within the local community. The Vocational Department can provide companies with
permanent employees on either a part-time for full-time basis. Once a worker is
placed within a company, our qualified job coaches train and supervise each
individual throughout his/her employment. As job placements and working
arrangements are tailored to the employer's needs, no two placements are
identical.

Amego's
work program is an exciting and worthwhile step toward helping the individuals
we support and assist to achieve greater independence and self-reliance.
The Work Support Program is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Mental
Retardation and approved by the United States Department of Labor.
